- Roki Sasaki is the favourite to win National League MVP at +200.
- Six AL players are between +500 and +1000.
- Jasson Domínguez is the American League favourite.
Jasson Domínguez and Roki Sasaki are the preseason betting favourites for American League and National League Rookie of the Year, respectively.
Sasaki is +200 ahead of Dylan Crews and Matt Shaw in the NL. Domínguez is +500 as the AL favourite, with five players between +700 and +1000 behind him.
Below, I have provided my MLB predictions for AL and NL Rookie of the Year.
2025 MLB Rookie of the Year Odds
Prediction: Who Will Win 2025 American League Rookie of the Year?
New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez is the current favourite to win 2025 American League Rookie of the Year at +500, followed by:
- Roman Anthony, Boston Red Sox (+700)
- Jacob Wilson, Oakland Athletics (+800)
- Jackson Jobe, Detroit Tigers (+800)
- Kristian Campbell, Boston Red Sox (+800)
Detroit Tigers pitcher Jackson Jobe is my pick to win 2025 American League Rookie of the Year due to his high-velocity fastball, wipeout slider, and the chance to post big strikeout numbers after striking out 10.1 hitters per nine innings in the minors.
2025 AL Rookie of the Year Odds
Player | Current Odds | Team |
Jasson Dominguez | +500 | Yankees |
Roman Anthony | +700 | Red Sox |
Jacob Wilson | +800 | Athletics |
Jackson Jobe | +800 | Tigers |
Kristian Campbell | +800 | Red Sox |
Coby Mayo | +900 | Orioles |
Kumar Rocker | +1600 | Rangers |
Christian Moore | +1600 | Angels |
Will Wagner | +1600 | Blue Jays |
Chase DeLauter | +2000 | Guardians |
2025 AL Rookie of the Year Predictions & Best Picks
Jasson Dominguez AL Rookie of the Year Odds +500
With Juan Soto leaving the New York Yankees in free agency, Jasson Domínguez should be playing every day in the outfield. An .848 OPS at triple-A in 2024 doesn’t suggest he’s going to be an immediate star in the big leagues.
The Martian has been an exciting prospect for several years. He’s got a high ceiling, but I am steering clear at this price.
Roman Anthony AL Rookie of the Year Odds +700
Boston Red Sox outfielder is the number two prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Anthony had a .983 OPS in 35 triple-A games last season.
Boasting an elite eye with potentially 30-homer power, the 2022 second-round pick should be an impact player for the Red Sox in 2025. The defence isn’t going to be a problem either – he could get time in centre or on either corner.
Jacob Wilson AL Rookie of the Year Odds +800
Even with the Oakland Athletics spending money in free agency, Jacob Wilson is going to have plenty of opportunities to shine in 2025. Wilson made his big league debut last season after rapidly progressing through the minors.
A reliance on elite contact skills doesn’t give Wilson the highest ceiling of this group, but he could be in the Rookie of the Year mix if some of the toolsier players disappoint.
Jackson Jobe AL Rookie of the Year Odds +800
Jackson Jobe was thrown in at the deep end as a rookie, pitching down the stretch and in the postseason for the Detroit Tigers. It wasn’t a fair representation of Jobe’s ability.
Set to join Tarik Skubal at the front of the Tigers’ rotation, I am expecting a big 2025 from Jobe. His fastball can get into triple digits, while his slider has a very high spin rate. I think Jobe has All-Star upside this year.
Kristian Campbell AL Rookie of the Year Odds +800
Selected in the supplemental fourth round in 2023, Kristian Campbell was a gamble when he was selected by the Boston Red Sox. Since then, he has shone to become the seventh-best prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
Campbell has won MLB Pipeline Hitting Prospect of the Year, MiLB Breakout Player of the Year, and Double-A Eastern League MVP. The swing changes made by the Red Sox might have transformed him into a Rookie of the Year winner. I am hesitant to back Campbell at this price, however, given that it’s only a couple of years ago scouts were concerned about his contact-heavy approach.
Prediction: Who Will Win 2025 National League Rookie of the Year?
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Roki Sasaki is the current favourite in baseball betting odds to win 2025 National League Rookie of the Year at +200, followed by:
- Dylan Crews, Washington Nationals (+400)
- Matt Shaw, Chicago Cubs (+400)
- Bubba Chandler, Pittsburgh Pirates (+1000)
- Jordan Lawlar, Arizona Diamondbacks (+1400)
Roki Sasaki is my best online sportsbook pick to win NL Rookie of the Year in 2025. Sasaki arrives in the majors after posting a 2.02 ERA and a 0.883 WHIP over 414 innings across four seasons in Japan, and I think his electric stuff will translate well to the majors.
2025 NL Rookie of the Year Odds
Player | Current Odds | Team |
Roki Sasaki | +200 | Dodgers |
Dylan Crews | +400 | Nationals |
Matt Shaw | +400 | Cubs |
Bubba Chandler | +1000 | Pirates |
Jordan Lawlar | +1400 | Diamondbacks |
Thomas Saggese | +2000 | Cardinals |
Tirso Ornelas | +2200 | Padres |
Rhett Lowder | +2500 | Reds |
Hye-Seong Kim | +3000 | Dodgers |
Andrew Painter | +3000 | Phillies |
2025 NL Rookie of the Year Predictions & Best Picks
Roki Sasaki NL Rookie of the Year Odds +200
Roki Sasaki would have got a contract over $200 million if he came to MLB in a couple of years’ time. Instead, Sasaki has signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, joining up with his compatriots Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
With a fastball that can get to 102 mph and a splitter that MLB Pipeline claims might be the best pitch in the world, Sasaki is expected to pitch like an ace for the Dodgers. They will be careful with his workload, of course, but that shouldn’t have much of an impact on the Rookie of the Year race.
Dylan Crews NL Rookie of the Year Odds +400
With plus-speed and maximum exit velocities that rank a long way above league average, Dylan Crews has the potential to put up some massive numbers in 2025.
Crews has been a master at adapting to pitching throughout his career. He’s managed to stop chasing outside the zone as often, and it will be interesting to see how he improves in 2025.
Matt Shaw NL Rookie of the Year Odds +400
I don’t like backing Matt Shaw at +400 despite his unquestionable talent. Shaw’s lack of arm means he’s likely a second baseman in the majors, but the Chicago Cubs might persevere with him as a third baseman.
Wrigley Field can be an unforgiving place for right-handed hitters, which could suppress Shaw’s numbers.
Bubba Chandler NL Rookie of the Year Odds +1000
Drafted as a two-way player, Bubba Chandler focused on pitching after one season playing both sides of the ball. Chandler quickly proved an elite prospect with a high 90s fastball accustomed by some nasty offspeed stuff.
The Pittsburgh Pirates already have Paul Skenes and Jared Jones in their rotation. Chandler could be the latest young arm to dominate big-league hitters.
Jordan Lawlar NL Rookie of the Year Odds +1400
After making his MLB debut in 2023, Jordan Lawlar’s 2024 season was derailed by injuries. He had a brief return in triple-A last season and played some winter ball to prepare for the 2025 campaign.
I am tempted to back Lawlar at this price. The upside is real, as was evident when he raced through MiLB.
