Opening Day MLB Predictions & Best Bets: Thursday, March 27

Blue Jays ML (+100) vs. Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles let Corbin Burnes walk this offseason, leaving Grayson Rodriguez as the likely opening-day starter. The Toronto Blue Jays missed out on Juan Soto and have had an uneventful winter thus far, but this team is far more talented than their 74-win 2024 indicated.

Baltimore finished last season on a 34-38 run. The Orioles were swept by the Kansas City Royals in the wild-card round. In contrast, there were positive signs for the Jays in the second half, including a 22-17 spell from July 21 to Aug. 31.

Toronto will give the ball to either José Berríos, who pitched a gem on opening day in a win over the Tampa Bay Rays last season, or Kevin Gausman, who posted a 2.92 ERA after the All-Star break.

I had a lot of interesting options when making MLB picks today at the BetMGM online sportsbook, but I think the Jays are the pick of the bunch. Toronto might have a slight advantage in the pitching matchup, and their offence is capable of going toe-to-toe with their division rivals at Rogers Centre.
