  • The Dodgers have made 22 World Series appearances.
  • Los Angeles has won the Fall Classic on eight occasions.
  • The Dodgers have faced the Yankees in the World Series on 12 occasions.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of MLB’s marquee franchises. Founded in 1883 in Brooklyn, the team went by various different names before becoming the Brooklyn Robins in 1914.

They remained the Robins until 1931 when they became the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1958, they swapped Brooklyn for Los Angeles but retained the Dodgers name. Many of the sport’s biggest stars, from Jackie Robinson to Mookie Betts, have worn the iconic Dodger uniform.

How Many World Series Have the Dodgers Won?

The Dodgers have won eight World Series.

Four of the Dodgers’ World Series titles came between 1955 and 1965. They did not win a World Series from 1988 to 2020 and lost their first seven Fall Classic appearances.

Five franchises have won more titles than the Dodgers, but the New York Yankees are the only team to appear in the World Series on more occasions.

When Was the Last Time the Dodgers Won the World Series?

The Dodgers last won the World Series in 2024, defeating the New York Yankees in five games.

Perennial favourites in World Series odds throughout most of the 2010s and the first half of the 2020s, the Dodgers lost the Fall Classic in 2017 and 2018. They also reached the NLCS in 2016 and 2021.

Despite the online sports betting markets often giving the Dodgers short baseball playoff odds to win it all, they’ve only won two World Series since 1988.

The Dodgers have made 22 World Series appearances and have won eight titles, the first of which was in 1955.

They lost their first seven World Series appearances, including five losses to the Yankees between 1941 and 1953. The Yankees and Dodgers is the most common World Series matchup in MLB history; they have faced each other 12 times in the final series of the year.

The St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants are the only National League teams with more titles than the Dodgers.

Of teams to play in more than three World Series, the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs are the only teams to have won a lower percentage of their appearances in the World Series.

The Dodgers have won nine World Series MVPs, including Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero, and Steve Yeager, who shared the award in 1981. Dodgers icon Sandy Koufax is one of four players to win multiple World Series MVPs.

Former Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is also in that group, but he won the second of his awards with the Texas Rangers in 2023.
