The UFC is currently the leading MMA promotion in the world, having signed most of the best fighters. This gives the fans many exciting matches that spice up the MMA odds boards. Throughout its over three decades of history, which country has produced the most champions in the Las Vegas-based promotion?

The United States of America leads the pack with 73 UFC champions. This is no surprise, since most of the athletes competing in the promotion are American, especially in the promotion’s early days in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Several notable American UFC champions were Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, and Stipe Miocic.

Following the USA on the list is Brazil, with 23 UFC champions. The Brazilians have thrived inside the Octagon thanks to their home-grown martial arts technique, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which has led to many submissions in the UFC.

The most noteworthy Brazilian titleholders are Anderson Silva, Charles Oliveira, Glover Teixeira, and Alex Pereira.

Claiming the third spot on the list is Russia, with five UFC champions. It’s a bit of a surprise that they have only had three titleholders, given that they have produced/can claim a lot of up-and-coming talent from the country.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, Petr Yan, Islam Makhachev, and Magomed Ankalaev are the fighters who have secured the UFC gold for them.

Rounding out the list are Mexico and England with three apiece, and six countries with two UFC champions. These countries include Canada, Nigeria, Australia, Georgia, the Netherlands, and Poland.
