I am predicting a Canada win in this match largely because of home advantage. There will be a raucous crowd for the Canadians’ first-ever home World Cup match, and that will be hard to overcome, even for a battle-hardened Bosnia and Herzegovina team.

Qatar were completely overmatched as hosts at the 2022 World Cup. They were thoroughly outplayed by the Netherlands, Ecuador, and Senegal. Despite qualifying for the 2026 edition, Qatar haven’t improved significantly.
The core of the squad is the same. Their only positive result in the 2025 Arab Cup was a draw with Syria. Alphonso Davies and co. should have no problem dispatching Qatar in emphatic fashion on matchday two — this is Canada’s best chance of a clean sheet with Qatar only finding the net once at the 2022 World Cup.

Switzerland are the strongest team in Group B. They’ve reached the knockout phase at the last six major tournaments and sit 19th in the latest FIFA world rankings.
It’s rare for Canada to be tested against the top European nations. Switzerland might not be a powerhouse, but they are blessed with plenty of tournament experience and have quality throughout their squad.
