Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina Prediction, Odds, & Best Bets: World Cup 2026

Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina kick off Group B action at the 2026 World Cup from Toronto Stadium on Friday. 

Les Rouges are the soccer odds favourites at the BetMGM sportsbook to secure their first World Cup victory. 

Bosnia and Herzegovina won’t be overawed by the occasion, though, and will prove a tough nut to crack in the high-stakes affair.

I predict Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina will share the spoils in a 1-1 draw. 

The importance of the Group B opener cannot be overstated, and the early proceedings will reflect just how much is on the line.

I expect the visitors to batten down the hatches from the outset, forcing the Canadians to conjure their best stuff to find an incisive pass. 

Bosnia and Herzegovina will absorb the pressure of the crowd and an amped Canada for the opening 10 or 15 minutes before taking a foothold in the match. 

Bosnia and Herzegovina is ranked 64th, 34 positions below Canada’s 30th.

I’m not letting that somewhat arbitrary number mislead me, though, as Bosnia and Herzegovina is used to playing in hostile environments against hard-nosed, skilled European teams like Austria and Romania. 

After playing those teams in qualification, it overcame Italy at home in the playoff final. 

I’d be surprised if Alphonso Davies contributes to any significant capacity. In addition, recent news out of the Canada camp suggests Moïse Bombito will be removed from the roster. He played just 30 minutes in a recent friendly against Uzbekistan, and he has clearly lost the race against time in his recovery process. 

Canada wouldn’t have had it easy if those two players were fit and available, as Bosnia and Herzegovina is an organized, disciplined, and physical side. 

However, it doesn’t offer much menace in attack, with 40-year-old Eden Džeko the team’s most formidable threat. In analyzing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s World Cup roster, you’ll find it lacks bite up front, especially with second-leading scorer Haris Tabaković still recovering from an injury. 

While I expect Canada to dictate possession early, Bosnia and Herzegovina will more than hold its own in a 1-1 draw.

While the World Cup odds for Under 2.5 goals are notably short, I’m as confident as the 60% probability indicates. 

It will be a cagey start from both teams. Nobody will want to make a mistake, so a risk-averse approach will ensue until one of the teams breaks the deadlock, which will likely take a while.
