Vanderbilt Commodores All-Time Greatest Women’s Basketball Players

1. Chantelle Anderson

Chantelle Anderson has the most points (2,604) and fourth-most blocks (181) in program history.

The multiple-time All-American and three-time first-team All-SEC member was the SEC co-Player of the Year in 2002 and SEC Tournament MVP in 2001.

She averaged 19 points and six rebounds per game during her time at Vanderbilt.

Anderson was drafted No. 2 overall by the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA in 2003.

2. Wendy Scholtens

Wendy Scholtens has the most rebounds (1,272), second-most points (2,602), third-most blocks (217), and sixth-most steals (211) in program history.

The one-time All-American and three-time All-SEC forward averaged 21.3 points on 57.9% shooting and 10.4 rebounds per game during her time at Vanderbilt.

She set the single-season school scoring record with 855 points in the 1989-90 season and was the first Vanderbilt woman to have her jersey retired (No. 40) in 1999.

3. Harriet Brumfield

Harriet Brumfield has the third-most points (1,956) and rebounds (1,057) in program history.

Brumfield was Vanderbilt’s all-time leading scorer by the end of her sophomore year and left the school as their all-time leading rebounder.

She averaged 16.4 points and nine rebounds per game during her time at Vanderbilt.

4. Jackie Cowan

Jackie Cowan has the fourth-most points (1,873) in program history.

She averaged 20.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game during the 1985-86, her senior year. 

Cowan led the Commodores to a 22-9 record and the program’s first berth in the NCAA Tournament that year, as she was an All-SEC coaches selection and was named to the SEC all-tournament team.

5. Carla Thomas

Carla Thomas has the fifth-most points (1,774) and blocks (144) in program history.

The three-time All-SEC forward/center was a two-time SEC Tournament MVP, as she averaged 13.6 points and six rebounds per game during her time at Vanderbilt.

Thomas was drafted No. 10 overall by the Chicago Sky in 2007.
