The South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team has consistently been among the women’s college basketball betting odds favourites of winning a championship, as they won it all in 2017, 2022, and 2024.

Some of these players went on to the WNBA and immediately helped their teams improve their championship basketball odds. One in particular became a unanimous MVP.

South Carolina Gamecocks All-Time Greatest Women’s Basketball Players

1. A’ja Wilson

A’ja Wilson led the Gamecocks to their first national championship victory in 2017.

The three-time All-American was also a three-time SEC Player of the Year, two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, Honda Sports Award, John R. Wooden Award, Wade Trophy, USBWA National Player of the Year, and Lisa Leslie Award winner in 2018.

She has the most points (2,389), blocks (363), and third-most rebounds (1,195) in program history.

Wilson was drafted No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Aces in 2018, helping them win championships in 2022 and 2023 while winning Finals MVP in the latter year.

The three-time WNBA MVP became the second unanimous MVP in league history in 2024, averaging 26.9 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. She was also the second player in WNBA history to average at least 25 points per game in a season.

2. Aliyah Boston

Aliyah Boston helped the Gamecocks get to the Final Four multiple times and win a national championship in 2022.

The 2022 Naismith College Player of the Year and USBWA National Player of the Year is also a multiple time All-American and three-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

She has the most rebounds (1,493), second-most blocks (330), and fourth-most points (1,942) in program history.

Boston was drafted No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in 2023, as she won Rookie of the Year honours.

3. Kamilla Cardoso

Kamilla Cardoso helped the Gamecocks win two championships (2022, 2024), earning the NCAA Tournament MOP in the latter year.

She was a multiple time All-American and Defensive Player of the Year winner.

Cardoso has the fifth-most blocks (198) in program history.

Cardoso was drafted No. 3 overall by the Chicago Sky in 2024.

4. Allisha Gray

Allisha Gray spent just one season with the Gamecocks, but she helped them win it all in 2017, averaging 13.2 points per game in her lone season with the program.

The two-time WNBA All-Star was drafted No. 4 overall by the Dallas Wings in 2017, playing six seasons for them before moving onto the Atlanta Dream.

5. Shannon Johnson

Shannon Johnson has the second-most points (2,230), second-most steals (260), and fifth-most assists (467) in program history.

The four-time All-Star began her WNBA career with the Orlando Miracle in 1999, as she spent 11 seasons in the league.
