Hockey is a young man’s game these days, with more stars than ever barely able to buy a legal drink at their home NHL arena.
It’s a big reason why the Olympic Games have seen a surge of teenage phenoms etch their names across scoresheets in recent years, with some stars even carrying their team before they were even eligible to be drafted into the NHL.
That’s also proven true at the most recent Winter Olympics in 2026, with the youngest team at the tournament, Team Slovakia (an average age of 27.9), seeing its hockey odds rise rapidly throughout the tournament.

Who Is the Youngest Men’s Hockey Player To Score in the Olympics?
The youngest player in Olympic Men’s hockey history, Richard “Bibi” Torriani, is also the youngest to record a point, doing so at just 16.
The Swiss hockey legend eventually went on to participate in three different Olympics, serving as his country’s captain twice in 1936 and 1948, as well as several times during numerous World Championship events.
Torriani’s lone point at the 1928 Olympic Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland, was a goal, though it’s unclear what team it was scored against.
