As hockey leagues worldwide continue to lean younger year-over-year, there often isn’t much place for those with a few extra grey hairs in their beard to contribute on the biggest stage.

Just look at the hockey odds for the 2026 Winter Olympics for proof, given that the oldest team, Denmark (30.9 average age), is far from the most talented squad.

Despite becoming a young man’s game, various superstars have still found ways to contribute over the years at the Olympic Games, even in the later stages of their careers.

Who Is the Oldest Men’s Hockey Player To Score in the Olympics?

The ageless Chris Chelios is the oldest player to record a point at the Winter Olympic Games. At 44, the Hall of Fame defenseman notched an assist for Team USA against Team Sweden in a 2-1 loss during the preliminary round of the 2006 Games in Turin, Italy.

Chelios remains the oldest NHL player in Olympic history and would continue his professional career through 2010, after seven games with the Atlanta Thrashers, before retiring at 48.
