Canada vs Finland Prediction, Odds, & Best Bets: Olympic Men’s Hockey

Canada's Mitch Marner (93) and Macklin Celebrini (17) celebrate after Marner scored the winning goal during the overtime period of a men's ice hockey quarterfinal game between Canada and Czechia at the 2026 Winter Olympics, in Milan, Italy, Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026.

Canada and Finland, better known as the first and second Houdini acts of the Milano Cortina Games, pulled off improbable, last-gasp comebacks in the quarterfinals.

While Finland is the sizable hockey odds underdog at the BetMGM sportsbook, Canada will take nothing for granted after almost being upended by Czechia.

And Finland will know anything is possible after overturning a late two-goal deficit against Switzerland.

The stage is set for a mouthwatering semifinal between giants of the hockey world, and Friday’s game starts at 10:40 a.m. ET.

Canada vs Finland Prediction

Canada’s quarterfinal win over Czechia proved two things: It’s not as invincible as most analysts thought, and you can never count out Jon Cooper’s team.

The great overtime escape will serve as a wake-up call, with Canada set to play its best game of the tournament against a well-balanced, organized, and resolute Finland.

That doesn’t mean it will win comfortably, but I do expect at least four goals from the Olympic men’s hockey odds favourites en route to an all-anticipated and projected final against Team USA.

More often than I thought possible, Canada appeared vulnerable defensively against Czechia, hanging Jordan Binnington out to dry. Despite the lighter workload, Binnington saved Canada’s bacon several times.

Canada will be much better defensively in the semifinal, but Finland has more than enough offensive class and talent to light the lamp a couple of times.

Finland will also be buzzing after its even more improbable late comeback win over Switzerland. Riding high and playing on house money, Finland should be loose, translating to opportunistic, dangerous offensive hockey.

Prediction: Over 5.5 goals (-118)

Canada vs Finland Best Bets

With Finland being one of the best defensive teams and Juuse Saros playing like vintage Saros, I expect Finland to keep things tight and competitive throughout.

Both teams will be at their best, which should see Canada advance to the final, but Finland won’t go down quietly.

Best bet: Finland +2.5 (-130)
