Canada looks to rebound after being shut out by Team USA for the first time at the Olympics.

Their final Group A game is against Finland, which they have dominated in recent meetings, winning the last three by a combined 16-1.

Finland has the fifth-shortest Olympic women’s hockey odds (+15000) at the BetMGM sportsbook to capture gold, trading behind Czechia (+5500), Sweden (+5000), Canada (+290), and Team USA (-385).

The game will take place at 8:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.

Canada vs. Finland Prediction

Canada’s 5-0 defeat to Team USA was a demoralizing blow for head coach Troy Ryan, and it won’t sit well with the collective.

Canada has a chance to bounce back against a Finland team that endured the most challenging start to an Olympic campaign after an outbreak of norovirus.

After being shut out in consecutive games, the Finns found their legs against Switzerland, securing a 3-1 win.

However, Canada will be hell-bent on proving the lopsided defeat to the Americans was a mere blip. Even if Marie-Philip Poulin doesn’t feature due to the injury she suffered against Czechia, Canada has enough firepower to score five or six goals.

Based on Finland’s improved performance against Switzerland, I’m expecting them to score a consolation goal or two.

I would have backed the Over had the norovirus outbreak not occurred, and I can’t imagine everything is right as rain for Finland after going through such an ordeal.

Best bet: Over 5.5 goals (-133)

I’m also backing Canada to win by at least five goals. The hockey odds for that outcome stand at +100, implying a 50% probability.

They can take advantage of the Finns’ defensive frailties along with the inexperience of their presumed starting goaltender, Sanni Ahola, who is playing in her first Olympics.

In addition, Canada will punish any lapses. If Finland isn’t playing at 100% health, the defending champions will smell blood in the water and feast.

Best bet: Canada -4.5 (+100)
