Despite having the majority of the best talents in mixed martial arts, which makes fans bet on exciting fights, the UFC still experiences several unfortunate events here and there, from athletes doing crazy things inside the octagon when competing. These incidents can be parlay killers in MMA betting.

One recent incident occurred under the Las Vegas-based promotion, where a fighter bit his opponent to get out of an unfavourable position during the match. Who was this fighter who got bitten, and who was the perpetrator? Also, what sanction was handed to him after he committed the illegal move? Find out below.

Who Was the UFC Fighter That Got Bit?

Andre Lima was the UFC fighter who got bit by his opponent Igor Severino during their flyweight match at UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs. Namajunas, which took place at the APEX Center in Las Vegas in March.

After the incident, Lima received a bonus from UFC president Dana White, and he immortalized that bite from Severino by turning it into a tattoo.

What Happens if You Bite Someone in the UFC?

Much like what happened to Severino when he bit Lima during their fight, he was disqualified by the referee because it’s an illegal technique to use under UFC and MMA rules.

Unfortunately for Severino, he was not only disqualified and sustained a loss from that fight but was also immediately cut from the roster by UFC president Dana White due to the incident.
