- The UFC held a pay-per-view event in Canada in January.
- UFC 297 was held inside the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
- UFC Edmonton was the latest event held by the UFC in Canada.
Because of former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre, the UFC held several events in Canada, especially during the late 2000s and early 2010s. In fact, The Great White North has already hosted 34 UFC events.
But with more events lined up for this year and almost every week of MMA action, the question is: will the UFC come to Canada in 2024? Find out below.
Is UFC Coming to Canada in 2024?
The UFC already had an event in Canada in January, bringing the UFC 297 pay-per-view at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto for the UFC middleweight clash between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis.
Du Plessis defied the UFC odds stacked against him as he was the betting underdog at BetMGM’s sportsbook heading into the match and eked out a close split decision victory over Strickland to dethrone him and become the new undisputed king of the 185-pound division. The promotion also added eight Canadian fighters to the card.
Most recently, the Las Vegas-based promotion returned to The Great White North on Nov. 2, when Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi headlined the UFC Edmonton card inside Rogers Place.
Will the UFC Ever Come to Toronto?
The UFC 297 card was the seventh and latest event in Toronto. The six previous events were UFC 129 in April 2011, UFC 140 in December 2011, UFC 152 in September 2012, UFC 165 in September 2013, UFC 206 in December 2016, and UFC 231 in December 2018.
Will the UFC Come back to Vancouver?
There is no scheduled UFC event in Vancouver in 2024, but the Las Vegas-based promotion already had six previous events: UFC 115 in June 2010, UFC 131 in June 2011, UFC 174 in June 2014, UFC on Fox: Maia vs. Condit in August 2016, UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Gaethje in September 2019, and most recently, UFC 289 in June 2023.
