UFC Fighters to Successfully Defend a Title in Two Different Divisions
Fighter | UFC Titles Defended |
---|---|
Amanda Nunes | Women’s Bantamweight and Women’s Featherweight |
Daniel Cormier | Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight |
Henry Cejudo | Flyweight and Bantamweight |
Jon Jones | Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight |
Amanda Nunes
Nunes became a two-division UFC champion when she defeated Cris Cyborg in their championship match at UFC 232 in December 2018, when she captured the UFC Women’s Featherweight title.
“The Lioness” successfully defended both the bantamweight and featherweight belts simultaneously from 2019 to 2023 before announcing her retirement from the sport after her bout with Irene Aldana.
Daniel Cormier
Cormier became the UFC light heavyweight champion in May 2015 after submitting Anthony Johnson in the third round of their championship clash. He then defended his belt twice before moving up to the heavyweight division.
In July 2018, “DC” scored an upset against Stipe Miocic to become a double champion, and he fended off the challenge from Derrick Lewis in November 2018 at UFC 230 to retain the heavyweight crown.
Henry Cejudo
Cejudo ended the dominant flyweight reign of Demetrious Johnson in August 2018 with a split decision in their championship rematch. He defeated TJ Dillashaw to retain his 125-pound belt.
In June 2019, the former Olympic gold medalist moved up in the bantamweight division to challenge Marlon Moraes for the vacant championship, and Cejudo maximized the opportunity by scoring a third-round finish against the Brazilian.
Before momentarily retiring, Cejudo defeated Dominick Cruz in May 2020 at UFC 249 to remain the undisputed king of the 135-pound weight class.
Jon Jones
Jones became the youngest UFC champion at 23 when he defeated Maurício Rua in March 2011 to start a dominant reign in the 205-pound division. He reigned terror in the weight class for almost a decade before relinquishing the title in 2020 and moving up to the heavyweight division.
In March 2023, “Bones” made quick work of Ciryl Gane to capture the vacant UFC heavyweight title. Jones joined this exclusive club when he defended his belt via a third-round TKO against Miocic at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden.
