UFC 302: Islam Makhachev vs. Dustin Poirier Odds

Dustin Poirier | +375 |
Islam Makhachev Is the -500 Favourite Against Dustin Poirier
After eight months, Makhachev is finally back in action after successfully defending his title against Alexander Volkanovski in their championship rematch at UFC 294 in November with a first-round knockout. Because of his improving MMA skills, the oddsmakers and fans expect him to continue his reign in the 155-pound division.
The Dagestani star also holds the second-longest active streak in the UFC, with 13 straight victories. He hasn’t lost a fight since October 2015. Additionally, his fight style is similar to that of his teammate and coach, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov previously defeated Poirier via submission in September 2019.
Dustin Poirier Is the +375 Underdog Against Islam Makhachev
For the third time in his UFC career, Poirier will have the chance to become the undisputed UFC lightweight champion. He fell short of winning the belt in 2019 against Nurmagomedov and in 2021 against Charles Oliveira. But he still continued his hunt for the championship by winning two of his last three matches under the Las Vegas-based promotion.
The “Diamond” currently ranks as the fourth-best contender in the lightweight division and is a considerable betting underdog heading into the match. Losing two fights in his last five certainly didn’t help his case. Fighting another grappling-based opponent in the world title match is something that Poirier would want to shrug off to finally shrug off the UFC title drought.
