The next T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place across October and November 2028 in Australia and New Zealand. It marks the second time Australia have hosted the tournament and the first time for New Zealand.

After winning their third T20 World Cup in 2026, India are favoured to lift the trophy in the latest cricket betting markets. Twelve teams are qualified for the World Cup as of March 2026.

T20 World Cup Predictions 2028

I predict Australia, who are among the favourites at the BetMGM online sportsbook, will win the T20 World Cup on home soil.

The Australians struggled in the T20 World Cup, but that can partly be attributed to injuries. Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and others will still be at their peak by the time the 2028 edition rolls around. Home conditions will favour the Aussies and work against the Asian nations.

India won the World Cup in emphatic fashion, but they showed some vulnerability earlier in the tournament. Bigger grounds and livelier pitches provide a different challenge for their batters and bowlers.

England won the last time the World Cup was hosted in Australia, but they have some serious questions to answer with their T20 side. They need to find at least two quick bowlers for a World Cup down under, and they may have a couple of big holes to fill if Jos Buttler and Adil Rashid retire in the next couple of years.

Canada will be battling it out to qualify for the World Cup. As it stands, there is only one Americas spot in the 20-team tournament. Canada, the United States, and the Cayman Islands will be joined by another qualifier for a four-team group stage, with the winner earning a spot in the World Cup.
