Host nation India face England at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday in Mumbai. After some shaky performances in the group stage, England won all three of their Super Eight matches, while India booked their place in the semi-final with a tense win over West Indies on Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, India are heavy favourites in the cricket betting odds at the BetMGM online sportsbook. Both countries have won two T20 World Cups and India are defending champions.

India vs. England Predictions

I predict India will beat England in the World Cup semi-final on Thursday.

India delivered under pressure to win on Sunday. England, despite an impressive run of wins in the Super Eight phase, are a flawed team, with misfiring batters and a bowling attack that heavily relies on new-ball wickets from Jofra Archer.

India vs. England Best Bets

Mumbai is an intimidating place to play for any visiting cricketer. Home advantage is significant for India, and not just because of the crowd.

England have spent most of this World Cup in Sri Lanka. Harry Brook’s team adapted to the surfaces in Pallekele and Colombo, but face a different task on Thursday at the Wankhede. Jos Buttler’s form is concerning for England, and it’s unlikely he starts finding the middle with Jasprit Bumrah charging in. I predict Buttler will once again score under 24.5 runs.

On the other side of this contest, India have generally fared well against Adil Rashid and will have no problem attacking Liam Dawson and Will Jacks. If Archer doesn’t dismiss multiple batters in the power play, England are going to have a difficult time keeping India below 10 runs per over.

Varun Chakravarthy has enjoyed plenty of success against England in the past. His variations have brought wickets on a frequent basis throughout this World Cup. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ripped through England’s middle order – he’s +200 to be India’s top bowler.
