Canada and New Zealand meet in Chennai on Tuesday. It is the final match of the group stage for New Zealand. Canada are all but eliminated from the T20 World Cup after losing their first two matches in the competition.

I predict New Zealand will easily defeat Canada in their T20 World Cup encounter on Wednesday.

Canada missed a golden opportunity to get their first win of the tournament against the UAE. New Zealand ruthlessly defeated Afghanistan and the UAE, and a similar performance is expected here. 

Canada vs. New Zealand Best Bets

Much of New Zealand’s success in this tournament has been built on the opening partnership of Tim Seifert and Finn Allen. Both of their runs over/unders are 26.5. I predict both will go over that number and get the Kiwis off to another flying start – Seifert is the top scorer in the tournament, and Allen has gone over this line in his last two innings.

If Canada are to keep New Zealand’s run rate under control, they need an all-around complete bowling performance. A large part of that is down to Saad Bin Zafar, who took three wickets and only conceded 14 runs in four overs against the UAE. There has been plenty of spin in Chennai – Bin Zafar is +375 to be Canada’s top bowler. 

Canada’s best chance is to take early wickets and put pressure on the New Zealand middle order to score runs against spin. It would be one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history if the Maple Leafers pulled off a win.
