Tiger Woods, Greg Norman, Rory McIlroy, and Scottie Scheffler have all spent time at the top of the rankings, but which one has been No. 1 the longest?

Find out that answer and more below:

Which Golfer Has Been No. 1 the Longest?

Tiger Woods has been No. 1 the longest. Woods has spent a record 681 weeks ranked as the world’s top golfer.

Woods first reached world No. 1 on Aug. 15, 1999 and stayed there for a record 264 consecutive weeks. He broke that mark when he went 281 straight weeks as No. 1 between 2005 and 2010.

How Long Was Tiger Woods No. 1?

Tiger Woods spent 681 weeks as the world’s No. 1 golfer. He first made it to No. 1 on Aug. 15, 1999 and was last ranked No. 1 on May 17, 2014.

Woods’ 281 consecutive weeks atop the World Golf Rankings is also a record.

It’s no surprise that Woods was constantly priced as the golf betting favourite during this era.

How Long Was Greg Norman No. 1?

Greg Norman was the world No. 1 for 331 total weeks, a record at the time. The Australian first reached No. 1 on Aug. 20, 1989 and last held the honour on Jan. 10, 1998.

Like Woods, Norman was no stranger to having the shortest PGA odds ahead of a given tournament during his prime.
