What Are the Best Golf Courses in Canada?

1. Cabot Cliffs — Inverness, Nova Scotia

When I think of golf courses in Canada, Cabot Cliffs is typically the first that comes to mind.

Travelling to Cape Breton isn’t easy, and the round won’t come cheap, but the stunning ocean views and pristine setup make it all worthwhile.

2. St. George’s Golf & Country Club — Etobicoke, Ontario

St. George’s Golf & Country Club, located just a 12-minute drive from Toronto Pearson International Airport, has held the Canadian Open on six occasions.

In the most recent edition, Rory McIlroy outlasted Tony Finau and Justin Thomas to overcome his short PGA Tour odds and take the 2022 title.

3. Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club — Jasper, Alberta

Jasper Park Lodge GC is the perfect stop for golfers taking a summer trip to the Canadian Rockies.

4. Cabot Links — Inverness, Nova Scotia

Cabot Links is the older sister of Cabot Cliffs, and it was Canada’s first true links-style golf course. It provides a similarly spectacular experience, though the hole setups are slightly more straightforward.

5. Banff Springs Golf Club — Banff, Alberta

Building golf courses near stunning national parks is a recipe for success. Banff Springs GC has immaculate views and is only an hour and a half drive from Calgary.

6. Hamilton Golf & Country Club — Ancaster, Ontario

Hamilton Golf & Country Club underwent significant renovations ahead of the 2024 Canadian Open, won by Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre.

7. Capilano Golf & Country Club — West Vancouver, British Columbia

Capilano Golf & Country Club sits 20 minutes north of Vancouver and offers stunning views of the city despite being built into a local rainforest.

8. Tobiano — Kamloops, British Columbia

Perched on the side of Kamloops Lake, Tobiano is a unique golf course, with canyons running through several of its holes.

9. National Golf Club of Canada — Woodbridge, Ontario

The National Golf Club of Canada, a private, gentlemen-only club located north of Toronto, boasts one of the most challenging courses in the country.

10. Royal Montreal Golf Club — L’Île-Bizard, Quebec

Royal Montreal GC hosted the 2024 President’s Cup. Despite Tom Kim’s best efforts, the International team, which featured Canadians Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, and Mackenzie Hughes, was unable to overcome long golf odds against the United States contingent.

11. Muskoka Bay Resort — Gravenhurst, Ontario

This stay-and-play resort 90 minutes north of Toronto is perfect for weekend getaways, but be sure to pack plenty of balls for this narrow, tree-lined setup.
