Since 2006, Chestnut has won the competition in all but two years.

Seventeen-time champion Chestnut is the overwhelming favourite for the 2026 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. 

The 70.5 hot dogs and buns consumed by Chestnut in 2025 were the most by any competitor since his record-breaking tally of 76 in 2021.

Patrick Bertoletti is Chestnut’s closest challenger, having won the event in Chestnut’s absence in 2024. Bertoletti has set a couple of world records in 2026, but no one can match Chestnut’s prowess when it comes to consuming hot dogs and buns on the 4th. 

James Webb and Geoff Esper have had recent victories on the Major League Eating circuit, but I am not predicting that either of them can get close to Chestnut.
