The Winnipeg Jets will hope their head coach is as successful in future seasons as he was in his first behind the bench.

He led the Jets to their best points haul (116) in franchise history, six points better than the previous season under his predecessor, Rick Bowness.

Winnipeg won the Central Division and finished atop the Western Conference standings for the first time.

So, who is the Jets head coach, and how does his resume stack up?

Who Is the Winnipeg Jets Head Coach?

The Winnipeg Jets head coach is Scott Arniel. He took the reins at the start of the 2024-25 season, leading the team to the Presidents’ Trophy.

He was among the NHL betting favourites to win the Jack Adams Award for best coach, finishing as the runner-up behind Washington Capitals coach Spencer Carbery.

His only other NHL head coaching role came in 2010, when he led the Columbus Blue Jackets for a season and a half.

Before taking the Jets head coaching job, Arniel served as an assistant for the previous two seasons.

Arniel had a five-year stint as an assistant coach for the New York Rangers between 2013 and 2018, helping lead the Blueshirts to the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.

He followed that stint with four seasons as the Washington Capitals assistant coach.

In 1995-96, Arniel began his coaching career as a player/assistant coach with the International Hockey League’s Houston Aeros.

Either as a head coach or an assistant, Arniel has worked for five NHL teams.

What Is Scott Arniel’s Salary?

According to some reports, Arniel earns about $1.5 million per season.

However, his salary isn’t public knowledge, so the previously mentioned salary is unverified.
