What Are the NHL Skills Competition Events for 2024?

The league is debuting a new format for the NHL Skills Competition in 2024. Twelve NHL All-Stars will compete in eight events, with the winner taking home a cool $1 million prize.

Each All-Star will compete in four of the initial six events, including fastest skater, one-timers, passing, hardest shot, stick handling, and accuracy. 

From there, the top eight players advance to a one-on-one event in which the player will choose a goalie to shoot against. Finally, the top six players will advance to the obstacle course, where point totals will be doubled. The player with the most points after all eight events will walk away with the $1 million prize. 

The Vancouver Canucks’ Elias Petersson returns to defend his hardest shot title from the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills event. Petersson is only the fourth forward to ever win the event, after Alexander Ovechkin (2018), Sergei Fedorov (2002), and Frederik Modin (2001).

Tickets for the NHL Skills Competition in Toronto are in high demand. The average ticket price for Friday’s event is currently $393, with prices ranging from $240 to $1,200.
