The Montreal Canadiens have scored countless overtime goals in the Stanley Cup playoffs across their acclaimed history. These goals have helped them shorten their hockey odds at the BetMGM sportsbook.

Sixteen Canadiens players are tied for fifth on the all-time list of most playoff overtime goals with two, and Josh Anderson is the only active player among them.

But which players have more, and who has the most?

4. Jacques Lemaire (3) 

Two of Jacques Lemaire’s three playoff overtime winners came in consecutive games during the 1968 playoffs. 

He scored in Game 5 of the semifinals, putting the final nail in the Chicago Blackhawks’ coffin. 

He followed that goal with the winner in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the St. Louis Blues, and the Habs went on to sweep the series en route to the championship. 

Lemaire’s third overtime winner came in Game 4 of the 1977 final, which clinched the Cup for the Canadiens. 

3. Kirk Muller (3) 

Captain Kirk was an unstoppable force during the Canadiens’ 1993 Stanley Cup run. Setting the record for most overtime wins in NHL playoff history, the Canadiens finished with 10, and Kirk Muller scored two. 

Muller’s overtime winners in that historic run came in Game 5 against the Quebec Nordiques in the first round and in Game 4 versus the Buffalo Sabres in the second round. 

He also netted the overtime winner in Game 5 of the 1994 first-round series against the Boston Bruins.

2. Russ Courtnall (3)

Two of Russ Courtnall’s three overtime goals for the Habs came against the Hartford Whalers in a three-year stretch. In the first round of the 1989 playoffs, he scored his first. It came in Game 4, securing the sweep to put the Canadiens into the second round. 

Courtnall scored his second in the first round of the 1991 playoffs against the Buffalo Sabres. His third and most famous overtime winner came in the first round of the 1992 playoffs. 

He scored in Game 7 against the Whalers, securing his second series-clinching overtime goal. 

1. Maurice Richard (6) 

Maurice Richard has the second-most overtime goals in the NHL playoffs and the most by a Canadiens player.

Three of his overtime winners came in the Stanley Cup Finals, including one against the Boston Bruins in 1958, which helped propel the Canadiens to the championship.
