The Canadiens last won the Stanley Cup in 1993. It wasn’t just Montreal’s last championship, but also the last time a Canadian team hoisted the Stanley Cup. 

It took Montreal only five games to dispatch the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup Final, which was Wayne Gretzky’s only final appearance with the Kings. 

The Canadiens won their 23rd Stanley Cup seven years before, beating the Calgary Flames in the 1986 final. Patrick Roy joined an exclusive club of rookie goaltenders who won the Conn Smythe Trophy.

He did one better, becoming the youngest Conn Smythe winner in NHL history.
