Carolina Hurricanes’ head coach Rod Brind’Amour knows a thing or two about scoring game-winning goals in the playoffs.

He netted six during his playing days with the Hurricanes, and I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to see a few of the current crop eclipse his total in the 2026 Stanley Cup Final.

Who Has the Most Playoff Game-Winning Goals For the Hurricanes?

6. Kevin Dineen (4 GWG)

Kevin Dineen scored all four of his playoff game-winning goals with the Hartford Whalers. He scored two in the 1986 postseason, which marked the only time the Whalers advanced past the first round of the playoffs.

T-3. Jordan Staal (5 GWG)

Since joining the Hurricanes before the 2012 season, Jordan Staal has been a part of eight playoff runs. He scored four of his five game-winning goals in his first three playoffs in Carolina, notching two in 2019 and two in 2021.

His fifth came in Game 4 of the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, a critical goal that tied the series at two games.

T-3. Andrei Svechnikov (5 GWG)

All seven of Andrei Svechnikov’s playoff runs are with the Hurricanes. Like several players on this list, he will almost invariably add to his current total of five game-winners.

Svechnikov scored three game-winners during the 2025 run to the Eastern Conference final, which the Hurricanes lost to the Florida Panthers.

He scored the overtime goal in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final against the Montreal Canadiens, his only game-winner through three rounds of the 2026 playoffs.

T-3. Logan Stankoven (5 GWG)

Logan Stankoven has five game-winners in just 32 playoff games with the Hurricanes entering the 2026 Stanley Cup Final.

He had two in the 2025 playoffs after arriving from the Dallas Stars, and surpassed that total in 2026.

Stankoven scored three in the first three rounds entering the final, all of which shifted the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup odds at the BetMGM sportsbook

Two of those game-winners came in the opening games against the Ottawa Senators and the Philadelphia Flyers, and the other occurred in the Game 5 series clincher against the Canadiens.

2. Rod Brind’Amour (6 GWG)

The man, the myth, the legend. Brind’Amour is ingrained as the most influential individual in the Hurricanes’ playoff history. As a head coach or player, Brind’Amour has been involved in 98 of the 100 Hurricanes’ playoff victories entering the 2026 final.

He scored six game-winners in only four playoff stints with the Hurricanes, four of which came during the storied 2006 Cup run.

Two of those came in consecutive games, one against the Buffalo Sabres to secure their spot in the Stanley Cup Final and one in Game 1 of the final versus the Edmonton Oilers.

1. Sebastian Aho (9 GWG)

Sebastian Aho scored at least one game-winning goal in the last six playoffs, including three in the 2026 playoffs, entering Game 6 of the final.

He scored the series-clincher in the first round against the Senators, the game-winner in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final against the Canadiens, and the game-winner against the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 5 of the final.
