  • The Toronto Maples Leafs are the NHL’s most valuable franchise at $3.85 billion.
  • Gary Bettman has seen the valuation of the NHL rise by a staggering 29% year-over-year.
  • The Toronto Raptors are currently valued at S3.02 billion.

The Toronto Maple Leafs stand tall as one of the NHL’s most storied franchises. A passionate fan base and rich history continue to keep the Leafs top of mind in all of the latest hockey odds

Their consistent performance on the ice has solidified their place as a Canadian hockey powerhouse. They’re also an incredibly valuable asset off the ice.

So, how much are the Toronto Maple Leafs worth?

How Much Are the Toronto Maple Leafs Worth?

According to Forbes’s most recent valuations, the Toronto Maples Leafs are the most valuable franchise in the NHL. Toronto tops the league at a staggering $3.85 billion valuation. This gargantuan sum coincides with factors like team revenue, arena value, and brand recognition.

MLSE will be overjoyed as the Leafs’ valuation increased by 40% year-over-year. At this point, fans would be ecstatic if even a sprinkle of that business success led to on-ice results. Despite being one of the favourites in the Stanley Cup odds year after year and falling short, the fiery Toronto fan base continually packs Scotiabank Arena.

Unfortunately for fans, the Leafs haven’t lifted the Cup since 1967.

Are the Raptors Worth More Than the Leafs?

While the Maple Leafs reign supreme in the NHL, the Scotiabank Arena counterparts, the Toronto Raptors, hold their own in the NBA. The ever-growing popularity of basketball in the past 20 years has seen the value of the team explode.

However, the Raptors currently fall short of the Leafs’ valuation. As of 2023, the Raptors fall short of the Leafs’ dominance and are estimated to be worth $3.02 billion.

To be fair, the Leafs have been a Toronto institution for over 100 years. The Raptors just joined the NBA, along with the Vancouver Grizzlies in 1995. Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry led the Raptors to their first NBA championship in 2019 and sent the worldwide popularity of the team soaring.

What Is the Value of the NHL?

The NHL’s total valuation is also on a meteoric rise. A late 2023 study by Sportico revealed the total value of all 32 NHL teams to be an enormous $57.6 billion. A 29% increase from the previous year displays just how popular the game of hockey has become around the world.

A thriving business model has seen the NHL flourish in recent seasons. An unbelievable six teams saw at least 40% growth over the previous year, led by the Los Angeles Kings at 54%.

The Arizona Coyotes are currently the least valuable team in the NHL at $688 million.

That being said, the Coyotes’ recently announced move to Salt Lake City will undoubtedly raise their ceiling. Commissioner Gary Bettman’s NHL is well poised for continued growth in the years to come.
