1. Walton-Penner Group, Denver Broncos: $121.3 billion

The Broncos were purchased in 2022 by the Walton-Penner ownership group. The group is led by Robert Walton, the heir to Walmart, and Greg Penner, as well as Carrie Walton Penner. 

Walton himself has a net worth of $121.3 billion.

2. Hunt Family, Kansas City Chiefs: $24.8 billion

The wealth within the Hunt family dates back to H.L. Hunt, who generated wealth in the oil and gas industry. He had 14 children, including Lamar Hunt, who founded the Chiefs. Today, his son, Clark, is the CEO. 

3. David Tepper, Carolina Panthers: $23.7 billion

Tepper is a hedge fund manager who bought the Panthers in 2018 for $2.8 billion. 

4. Stan Kroenke, Los Angeles Rams: $21.3 billion

Kroenke owns several professional sports teams, including the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Avalanche, and Arsenal Football Club.

5. Jody Allen (Paul G. Allen Trust), Seattle Seahawks: $20.3 billion

Paul passed away in 2018 and co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates. Now, Jody, his sister, serves as the chairwoman of the Seahawks.

Before buying the Patriots in 1994, Kraft earned his wealth as the owner of Rand-Whitney and International Forest Products.

Harris not only owns the Commanders, but is also a managing partner for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s New Jersey Devils.

12. Glazer Family, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: $10 billion

The original owner in the Glazer family was Malcolm, a real estate mogul, who bought the team in 1995. He passed away in 2014, and his family inherited the Buccaneers. 

13. Terry and Kim Pegula, Buffalo Bills: $9.3 billion

Terry sold his company, East Resources, to Royal Dutch Shell for $4.7 billion. He and his wife purchased the Bills for $1.4 billion in 2013, following their acquisition of the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL three years earlier.

Blank co-founded Home Depot in the late 1970s. He bought the Falcons for $545 million in 2002.

Jimmy is the CEO of Pilot Flying J. He purchased the Browns in 2012 for $990 million.

Ford Hamp is the great-granddaughter of Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motor Company, and she took over in 2020 after her mother, Martha, stepped down. 

26. Amy Adams Strunk, Tennessee Titans: $2 billion

Her father, Bud Adams, generated his wealth in the petroleum business before becoming the founder of the Houston Oilers (now the Titans) and a co-founder of the AFL. 

27. Michael Bidwill, Arizona Cardinals: $1.4 billion

Bidwill’s grandfather, Charles Bidwill Sr., bought the team in 1932, and Michael joined the team in 1996 after spending time as a federal prosecutor. 

28. Zygi Wilf, Minnesota Vikings: $1.3 billion

The Wilf family owns Garden Homes, and Zygi specifically was an attorney before becoming the head of one of their affiliate companies, Garden Commercial Properties. 

29. McCaskey Family, Chicago Bears: $1.3 billion

Virginia McCaskey owned the team until her passing in February 2025 at the age of 102. Her father, George Halas, bought the Bears in 1920.
