Some, including myself, may say there’s no better football betting than on the Super Bowl. The NFL betting options are plentiful, between the point spread, moneyline, totals, player props, and more.

Right now, you can bet online for the Super Bowl at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

But before doing that, continue reading below to see how many Super Bowls there have been and which is considered the best of all time.

How Many Super Bowls Have There Been?

Through 2025, there will have been 59 Super Bowls. The first happened on Jan. 15, 1967, between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles.

Super Bowl 59 is between the Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is a rematch of Super Bowl 57.

What Is Considered the Best Super Bowl Ever Played?

While it’s difficult to say what the best Super Bowl of all time was as it’s highly subjective based on your favourite team and comparing different eras, it’s hard to argue against Super Bowl 51 between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.

The infamous “28-3” game.

In this game, the Patriots were coming off a 14-2 regular season and going up against the 11-5 Falcons, who also had the league MVP in quarterback Matt Ryan.

The Falcons got off to a hot start, going up 21-3 at halftime and expanding to 28-3 in the third quarter.

Then, with 2 minutes and 6 seconds to go in the second quarter, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass to running back James White to bring the game to 28-9. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed the extra point.

In the fourth quarter, the Patriots scored 19 unanswered points, including a field goal, a touchdown pass to Danny Amendola, a touchdown run by White, and two 2-point conversions.

This tied the game up at 28-28, and it went into overtime.

The Patriots won the coin toss and marched down the field in eight plays to score the game-winning touchdown.

They won 34-28, completing the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history.

Brady was named Super Bowl MVP for completing 43 passes and throwing for 466 yards. The 43 completions remain a Super Bowl record.
