During the NFL offseason, Seahawks fans look forward to the NFL Draft and free agency to improve their team. The 2025 offseason did just that, and not only were they an NFL betting favourite more often than not, but they went on to win Super Bowl 60.

Below, I’ll rank the seven best free agent signings the Seattle Seahawks have ever made.

Best Seattle Seahawks Free Agent Signings of All Time

7. Leonard Williams, Defensive Lineman

While the Seahawks traded for Williams during the 2023 season, he would eventually become a free agent, and the Seahawks brought him back on a three-year, $64.5 million deal.

Across 43 games in those 2.5 seasons or so, Williams has recorded 22 sacks, five pass deflections, one interception, 167 total tackles, 34 tackles for loss, and 156 pressures.

6. Jason Myers, Kicker

After spending three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and one with the New York Jets, the Seahawks brought in Myers on a four-year, $15.45 million deal in 2019.

Since then, he’s been one of the best kickers in the sport, with an 86.2% field goal percentage.

In the Super Bowl 60 win, he set a new Super Bowl record with five field goals.

5. Robbie Tobeck, Center

Tobeck was with the Atlanta Falcons from 1993 to 1999, then spent his final seven seasons with the Seahawks after signing with the team in 2000.

He was the guy in the middle of an offensive line that possessed Hall of Famers Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson.

Tobeck started every game for them from 2001 to 2005 and was a Pro Bowler in 2005-06.

Across eight games in 2006, he allowed just six pressures.

4. Cliff Avril, Defensive End

A member of the Super Bowl 48 defence, Avril signed a two-year, $13 million deal with the Seahawks after spending five seasons with the Detroit Lions.

He would later sign another deal, but over his five seasons with the Seahawks, he recorded 34.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl in 2016 after notching 11.5 sacks.

His final season with the team and in the NFL was 2017, when he played just four games.

That said, in the four seasons prior, he was a consistent pass rusher, recording 73 or more pressures in three of his five seasons.

3. Sam Darnold, Quarterback

After parting ways with Geno Smith, the Seahawks gave Darnold a three-year, $100.5 million deal after an impressive season with the Minnesota Vikings.

While the deal awarded Darnold with a sizable payday, it was fair to wonder if Darnold’s performance in 2024-25 would be representative of what was to come, or merely a product of Kevin O’Connell’s system in Minnesota.

Well, Darnold answered the call, helping lead the team to a Super Bowl 60 win. He completed 67.7% of his passes for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. During their postseason run, he didn’t have a single turnover.

2. Chad Brown, Linebacker

Coming over from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown signed a six-year, $24 million deal with the Seahawks, and in his second and third seasons, he was sensational, recording 13 total sacks and more than 260 total tackles.

He was a Pro Bowler both seasons, and a first-team All-Pro in 1998-99.

Brown spent eight seasons with the team and recorded 48 sacks, 743 total tackles, three interceptions, 11 forced fumbles, and 55 tackles for loss.

1. Michael Bennett, Defensive End

After a great 2012 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recording nine sacks, the Seahawks brought Bennett back.

Bennett was initially an undrafted free agent signed by the Seahawks in 2009, but was released.

After he signed a one-year, $4.8 million deal, it was later reported that he had a torn rotator cuff.

He recorded 8.5 sacks in his first season back with the Seahawks, leading to a four-year, $28.5 deal and, later on, a three-year, $30.5 million deal.

Over his five seasons with the Seahawks, he had 39 sacks and was named to three Pro Bowls. He was a key cog in the Seahawks’ Super Bowl 48 run.
