The defensive line for an NFL team like the Seattle Seahawks can sometimes be the difference between being dead last in NFL futures odds or consistently on the favourite side of football spreads at sports betting sites like BetMGM.

To honour these trench players, I’ve ranked the seven best in Seahawks history.

Greatest Seattle Seahawks Defensive Linemen

7. Cliff Avril

Avril began his career with the Detroit Lions, spending five seasons there before joining the Seahawks in 2013.

He spent the next five seasons of his career with the team, during which he won Super Bowl 48 and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2016.

He ranks 12th in Seahawks history in sacks with 34.5.

6. Jeff Bryant

Bryant played 12 seasons in the NFL, all with the Seahawks. He had 63 sacks, which is the third-most in Seahawks history.

5. Joe Nash

A nose tackle, Nash played for the Seahawks from 1982 to 1996.

He was a first-team All-Pro, went to a Pro Bowl, and ranks sixth all-time in sacks in Seahawks history with 47.5.

4. Michael Bennett

After going undrafted in 2009, Bennett initially landed with the Seahawks, was released, played four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then came back from 2013 to 2017.

While with the Seahawks, Bennett won Super Bowl 48 and went to three Pro Bowls.

He’s seventh in Seahawks history in sacks with 39.

3. Michael Sinclair

Sinclair was with the Seahawks for just over a decade, during which he recorded 73.5 sacks, the second-most in Seahawks history.

In that span, he was a second-team All-Pro, went to three Pro Bowls, and led the NFL in sacks and forced fumbles in 1998.

2. Jacob Green

Green was with the Seahawks and absolutely dominated.

He was a second-team All-Pro, went to two Pro Bowls, was a member of the PFWA All-Rookie team in 1980, and is a member of the Seahawks’ Ring of Honour.

Green is the Seahawks’ all-time leader in sacks with 115.5; no other player has more than 73.5.

1. Cortez Kennedy

Kennedy is among the best players in Seahawks history.

He was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1992, was a three-time first-team All-Pro, a two-time second-team All-Pro, and went to eight Pro Bowls.

No defensive tackle has more sacks in Seahawks history than Kennedy’s 58.

He’s in the Seahawks’ Ring of Honour, the team retired his No. 96, and he’s enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
