Special teams is one of those units that’s often forgotten about when thinking about football lines or NFL betting at sports betting sites like BetMGM. For teams like the Buffalo Bills, several all-time greats at their respective positions have come from this team.

Below, I’ll rank the seven best special teams players in Bills history.

Greatest Buffalo Bills Special Teamers

7. Paul Maguire

Maguire played for the Bills from 1964 to 1970 and played both punter and linebacker.

He won two AFL titles with the Bills, was an AFL All-Star, and led the AFL in punt yards twice.

Maguire finished his time with the Bills, recording 23,249 punt yards, which is third in Bills history.

6. Rian Lindell

Lindell played for the Bills from 2003 to 2012.

He holds two NFL records: most consecutive extra points made to start a career (321) and highest career extra point percentage (99.8%).

He made 225 field goals over his time with the Bills, which is second in team history.

5. Leodis McKelvin

McKelvin was with the Bills from 2008 to 2015, and as a rookie, he was a first-team All-Pro and was a member of the PFWA All-Rookie team.

He racked up 1,021 punt return yards (third in franchise history), three punt return touchdowns (tied for most), 2,471 kick return yards (second), and also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

4. Brian Moorman

Moorman was with the Bills from 2001 to 2012, and while with them, he was a two-time first-team All-Pro, a two-time Pro Bowler, a member of the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade team, and is part of the Bills’ 50th anniversary squad.

Moorman recorded 40,370 punt yards, which is the most in Bills history.

3. Steve Christie

Christie was with the Bills from 1992 to 2000 and set the franchise record with 234 field goals.

He’s a member of the Bills’ 50th anniversary team and is also enshrined in the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.

2. Terrence McGee

McGee played his entire career with the Bills from 2003 to 2012. He was a two-time second-team All-Pro and went to the Pro Bowl in 2004.

He returned 207 kickoffs for 5,450 yards and five touchdowns.

These are all, far and away, franchise records.

1. Steve Tasker

Tasker is one of the best special teams players of all time, and he was with the Bills from 1986 to 1997.

He was a five-time first-team All-Pro, went to seven Pro Bowls, and is a member of the Bills’ Wall of Fame and 50th anniversary team.

Tasker wasn’t a returner. He was mostly a gunner, recording 204 special teams tackles and blocking seven punts.
