Northern Iowa Panthers All-Time Greatest Basketball Players
1. Seth Tuttle
Tuttle played for Northern Iowa from 2011 to 2015 and was instrumental in leading the Panthers to a 31-win season in 2014-15.
He was a consensus second-team All-American, the MVC Player of the Year, a two-time first-team All-MVC selection, the MVC Tournament MVP, and MVC Freshman of the Year.
He ended his career with 1,747 points (fifth in program history), 917 rebounds (fifth), and 95 blocks (seventh).
Tuttle averaged 12.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.
2. Eric Coleman
Coleman averaged 11.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game from 2004 to 2008.
Coleman was a second-team All-MVC honoree, the MVC Freshman of the Year, and also was named to the MVC All-Tournament, MVC All-Freshman, and MVC All-Newcomer teams.
He recorded 1,522 points (eighth), 997 rebounds (third), and 115 blocks (fifth).
3. Ben Jacobson
Jacobson scored 1,787 points (third) from 2002 to 2006. He also recorded 357 assists (eighth) and 154 steals (fifth).
He was first-team All-MVC, Honorable Mention All-MVC, MVC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and was a member of the MVC All-Tournament, MVC Most-Improved, MVC All-Freshman, and MVC All-Newcomer teams.
Over four seasons, he averaged 14.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
4. Ali Farokhmanesh
An MVC All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree, Farokhmanesh played just two seasons at Northern Iowa, averaging 9.7 points per game.
He comes in at No. 4 on this list because he’ll be forever etched in Northern Iowa and NCAA Tournament history.
During the 2010 NCAA Tournament, Farokhmanesh hit a 3-point shot against No. 1 seed Kansas in the second round with 34 seconds to go, putting a dagger in the upset. That’s the furthest Northern Iowa has made it in the NCAA Tournament as a Division I program.
5. Adam Koch
Koch played for Northern Iowa from 2006 to 2010. During that time, he was an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American, the MVC Player of the Year, and a two-time first-team All-MVC selection.
Known for his defence, Koch was also named to the MVC All-Defensive Team in 2010.
He averaged 9.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
As a junior, he averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per outing.
