Nebraska Cornhuskers All-Time Greatest Basketball Players
1. Dave Hoppen
Hoppen was a three-time first-team All-Big Eight over his four-year career at Nebraska from 1982 to 1986.
Hoppen scored 2,167 points over his career (most in program history) and had 773 rebounds (fourth).
He averaged 19.5 points and seven rebounds per game over his four years.
Hoppen was the catalyst behind Nebraska’s appearance in the 1984 NIT. They made it to the second round in that tournament, but lost to Xavier 58-57.
His No. 42 was retired by the Cornhuskers.
2. Tyronn Lue
You may know Lue as the former head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but from 1995 to 1998, he played for the Cornhuskers.
Over his career, he scored 1,577 points (ninth), 432 assists (fourth), and 154 steals (eighth).
Across those three seasons, Lue averaged 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. As a junior, he averaged 21.2 points per game.
He was first-team All-Big 12 and second-team All-Big 12.
His No. 10 was retired by the school.
3. Eric Piatkowski
Piatkowski played for Nebraska from 1990 to 1994. While there, he was a two-time first-team All-Big Eight.
Over his four seasons, he averaged 15.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and one steal per game.
As a senior, he averaged 21.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Piatkowski scored 1,934 points (second). He holds the Cornhuskers single-game scoring record with 42 points against Oklahoma in the 1993-94 season.
His No. 52 was retired by the Cornhuskers.
4. Stu Lantz
Lantz played three seasons at Nebraska from 1965 to 1968, averaging 16.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Over his final two seasons, he averaged at least 19.2 points per game.
The school retired Lantz’s No. 22, and he is enshrined in the Nebraska Basketball Hall of Fame.
5. Rich King
King played four seasons at Nebraska from 1987 to 1991. He averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game.
As a senior, he averaged 15.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and two blocks per game.
Over his four seasons, Nebraska went to the NCAA Tournament in 1991 as a senior.
