Until 1976, there were no basketball lines for the Boise State Broncos basketball program at the Division I level in the NCAA Tournament.
While the Broncos aren’t typically atop the college basketball odds for a national title, they’ve had some notable players come through Boise.
My top five Broncos players can be found below based only on their Division 1 history.

1. Tanoka Beard
Beard played for Boise State from 1989 to 1993, and he scored 1,944 points (second in program history), 670 rebounds (seventh), and 160 blocks (first).
Beard was also a three-time first-team All-BSC.
Over his career, he averaged 17.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.
2. Tyson Degenhart
Degenhart averaged 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game over his four-year career from 2021 to 2025. He was three-time All-MWC and the MWC Rookie of the Year.
He finished his career with 2,037 points (first), including 676 points during the 2024-25 season, the most in a single season in Broncos history.
Degenhart also had 738 rebounds (fourth).
3. Derrick Marks
Marks played for the Broncos from 2011 to 2015, and he racked up 1,912 points (fifth), 370 assists (fifth), and 190 steals (third).
He was the MWC Player of the Year and first-team All-MWC.
Across 127 games, he averaged 15.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
4. Chris Childs
Playing point guard for the Broncos from 1985 to 1989, Child had 1,602 points (eighth), 392 assists (third), and 215 steals (first).
He was the Big Sky Player of the Year in 1989 and was first-team All-Big Sky three years in a row (1987-89).
5. Chandler Hutchison
Hutchison didn’t come into his own until his junior season. As a senior, he averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and one steal per game.
He was the Mountain West Player of the Year, two-time first-team All-MWC, and a Mountain West All-Defensive Team member.
He had 672 rebounds (sixth). He also scored 44 points during the 2017-18 season against San Diego State, the most in a single game in Broncos history.
