While the Auburn Tigers men’s basketball team hasn’t won a championship, they’ve had a lot of success in the 2020s, which has likely served you well if you’ve wagered on their college basketball odds. The team made the Final Four in 2019 and the NCAA Tournament in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Below is my list of the top five Auburn Tigers players of all time.

Auburn Tigers All-Time Greatest Basketball Players

1. Charles Barkley

Across those three seasons, he averaged 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game.

As for accolades, he was third-team All-American, SEC Player of the Year, two-time second-team All-SEC, and SEC Tournament MVP, and the program retired his No. 34.

2. Chuck Person

Person is Auburn’s all-time leading scorer with 2,311 points. He’s also third in rebounds (940), first in field goals made (1,017), and field goals attempted (1,899).

He accomplished this over his career from 1982 to 1986.

He was a third-team All-American and the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year, and the school retired his No. 45.

Over his four-year stint, he averaged 18.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

3. Mike Mitchell

Mitchell suited up for the Tigers from 1974 to 1978 and was first-team All-SEC, two-time second-team All-SEC, and third-team All-SEC. His No. 30 was retired.

He’s second in scoring (2,123) and third in rebounds (940).

4. Wesley Person

The other Person, Wesley, played for the Tigers from 1990 to 1994.

Yes, he’s Chuck Person’s brother, who came in at No. 2 on this list.

He averaged 19.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, one steal, and 0.8 blocks during his playing days.

His No. 11 has been retired by the program.

5. Johni Broome

I was looking for some of Auburn’s all-time greats, and you know what, I’m going out on a limb and putting Broome in at No. 5.

At the time of this ranking, he’s in his final season of college basketball and third with Auburn. He spent his first two with Morehead State.

At this point in the 2024-25 season, he’s averaging a double-double.

He’s been a massive component of the Tigers NCAA Tournament appearances in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Broome has recorded 156 blocks (sixth). In the 2023-24 season, he had 299 rebounds, which is ninth for a single season.

Over his two-plus seasons at Auburn, he’s averaging 16 points, nine rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 2.6 blocks per game.

As for accolades, he’s been a third-team All-American, first-team All-SEC, a member of the SEC Defensive Team, second-team All-SEC, and SEC Tournament MVP.
