  • There are two rounds in the NBA Draft.

The NBA Draft is when every team across the league has the opportunity to acquire young, new talent or execute trades to improve their roster.

The teams that finished the season near the bottom of the standings generally get the first crack at drafting a potential game-changing prospect, but championship contenders could find diamonds in the rough to make their teams even better.

With that said, when is the NBA Draft in 2025? Let’s find out.

When Is the 2025 NBA Draft?

The 2025 NBA Draft is on Thursday, June 26.

What Time Is the NBA Draft?

The time of the NBA Draft is at 8 p.m. ET.

How Many Rounds Are in the NBA Draft?

There are two rounds in the NBA Draft.

How Many Picks Are in the NBA Draft?

There are 60 picks in the NBA Draft, 30 per round.

How Does the NBA Draft Work?

The NBA Draft works by giving each of the 30 teams across the league a chance to acquire young talent to help them win games in the present and the future.

Some teams may have multiple picks or no picks in either round due to past or recent trades.

The team on the clock gets five minutes to make a selection in the first round and four minutes in the second round.

All 14 teams that missed the playoffs compete for the No. 1 overall pick in a lottery system.

The three worst teams have a 14% chance, the best basketball odds, of getting the No. 1 overall pick. However, as history suggests, that doesn’t guarantee any of those teams will walk away with the top selection heading into draft night.

Who Is Expected To Be the First Pick in the 2025 NBA Draft?

Cooper Flagg is expected to be the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Flagg’s elite two-way skill set, especially defensively, should help him become an immediate contributor at the next level and a nice fit alongside Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, assuming the Dallas Mavericks keep both in the fold.

The Duke product should also help the Mavs boast short NBA championship odds for years to come as he continues to improve his ability to create his own shots.
