San Antonio Spurs 2024-25 Betting Prediction

Prediction: Under 36.5 Wins (+100)

I predict that the Spurs will win under 36.5 games.

Wembanyama is well on his way to becoming a perennial MVP candidate.

The Frenchman can take flight from anywhere on the court, whether it’s finishing an alley-oop, driving to the basket, filling the lane, or cutting to the rim. But what really sets him apart is his ability to put the ball on the floor like a guard, push the pace in transition, and get out ahead of the break.

The reigning Rookie of the Year has a variety of scoring moves at his disposal, from pull-ups and stepbacks to turnaround fadeaway jumpers, allowing him to inflict damage in both the midrange and from 3-point land. His smooth behind-the-back dribble, crossover, and ability to weave through traffic help him shake off defenders.

It’s not normal for a player standing 7-foot-4 to be able to do all of this, and with his towering height, he can shoot over any defender, no matter their size.

Wembanyama finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting in just his first season in the league, averaging a whopping 3.6 blocks per game.

He may look like a stick out there, given his 209-pound frame, but he can absorb contact from the likes of Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo while swatting away their shot attempts.

Wemby’s defensive versatility is unmatched. He can stick with his man on drives, slide over to contest shots at the rim, guard the pick-and-roll, and disrupt passing lanes. His ability to block shots on closeouts behind the arc makes him a true defensive menace.

With his elite defensive instincts, combined with incredible length and agility, opponents struggle to create space or blow by him. Wembanyama consistently covers for his teammates’ defensive lapses and at times even his own. He can show hands at the ball-handler to contest shots, force them to pick up their dribble, and still recover in time to grab rebounds, out-positioning opponents even when they have the inside track. He’s everywhere on defence, whether it’s closing out on corner shooters or switching onto roll men.

Wembanyama winning the Defensive Player of the Year this upcoming season is my best online sportsbook bet to make.

Castle projects to be a solid point guard, given his ability to switch speeds, get downhill, operate as the ball-handler in the pick-and-roll, and make the right pass. His 6-foot-6 frame, lateral quickness, and strength also allow him to guard opposing guards and forwards on the drive and perimeter.

Paul won’t be the superstar he once was, but he should be able to provide mentorship for Wembanyama and Castle. The pick-and-roll between CP3 and Wemby will especially be dangerous.

The Spurs are well set up for the future with Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and Jeremy Sochan all rounding out this group.

Sochan has shown flashes of two-way potential, but his 3-point shot needs work.

Vassell and Johnson are reliable two-way wings, as their presence should help space the floor for Wembanyama while giving Castle open lanes to attack the basket.

The future is bright in the Alamo City, but it’ll be hard to expect them to win at least 37 games next season.
