New York Knicks 2024-25 Betting Prediction

Prediction: Over 54.5 Wins (-120)

I predict that the Knicks will win over 54.5 games.

Jalen Brunson has become an absolute sensation for the Knicks, averaging 28.7 points and 6.7 assists, both career highs, per game last season.

Brunson’s quick first step allows him to blow by defenders on drives to the rim, where he can either accelerate for a layup or quickly change speeds for a floater or pull-up midrange jumper.

His ability to run the pick-and-roll and keep a live dribble through traffic is key to his craftiness in these situations. Additionally, he’s a threat to post up against bigger or similarly sized defenders, using his stiff arm or spin move to create separation for stepback, turnaround fadeaway, and step-through jumpers.

Towns thrives on the catch-and-shoot from downtown, given his quick trigger, shooting mechanics, and ability to shoot on the move, but he can also drive it in or create for himself. Many of KAT’s driving attempts come on high post-up actions or when he’s trailing behind the ball-handler on the break.

He wastes no time getting to the rim as soon as he touches the ball, which also frees up his 3-point shot if the defender overcommits. He can also whip out a Euro step or extend his arm up high to shake off his defender on the drive.

Towns was the best defender on three-time MVP Nikola Jokić during Minnesota’s second-round playoff series win over the Denver Nuggets.

Towns was bodying Jokić up, absorbing his blows to prevent him from getting great positioning in the paint on and off the ball, forcing him to pick up his dribble, and fighting over the top to force turnovers.

Towns is also a great defender in the pick-and-roll. He’s capable of showing hands at the ball-handler and forcing them to pick up their dribble, but he also has the instincts to stick with the roll man and force passes into no man’s land.

He can also close out on drivers to the rim in drop coverage situations to cut off their access and then quickly switch directions to the corner to contest the open 3-point shot attempt.

Bridges gives the Knicks a solid shot creator in the midrange, a knockdown 3-point shooter off the catch and shoot, and a finisher at the rim off the drive.

Bridges’ field goal percentage dropped significantly with the increased shot volume, as he had to assume the role of a featured offensive option without a true playmaker to set him up.

His defence also regressed due to his expanded offensive responsibilities, but he remains capable of taking on the opposing team’s best player and locking them down on the perimeter or when they drive.

Josh Hart will be tasked with doing all the dirty work, including diving for loose balls and taking on tough defensive assignments. He’ll also continue to provide scoring, rebounding, and playmaking, serving as the glue that keeps things in motion.

OG Anunoby will help keep the Knicks balanced on both ends of the floor due to his commitment to locking down his opponent defensively on the perimeter and drive while contributing offensively within the confines of the offence.

The Knicks’ new starting five can all shoot 3s, which will open up lanes to the rim and foster a ton of ball movement. The two-man game between Brunson and Towns will also be incredibly hard to stop, especially on the pick-and-roll.

I expect the Knicks to capitalize on their new roster, so New York winning at least 55 games is my best online sportsbook bet.
