The Golden State Warriors missed the playoffs after finishing 46-36 last season but have revamped their roster, hoping to compete this upcoming season.

The Warriors’ NBA Finals odds are longer than fans are accustomed to.

Their +4000 championship odds are their longest preseason price since 2012-13, as they had been 28/1 or better for 11 straight years, including three minus-odds championship prices in the preseason.

Golden State Warriors Offseason Moves

Stephen Curry signed a one-year, $62.59 million contract extension that will kick in during the 2026-2027 season.

Curry’s longtime backcourt mate, Klay Thompson, moved onto the Dallas Mavericks via a six-team sign-and-trade involving the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Charlotte Hornets. In that deal, Golden State acquired Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson.

Chris Paul, a future hall-of-fame point guard, also moved on in free agency, signing with the San Antonio Spurs after a one-year experiment in The Bay.

Golden State Warriors 2024-25 Betting Prediction

Prediction: Over 43.5 Wins (-120)

I predict that the Warriors will win over 43.5 games this upcoming season.

Curry is still playing at an extremely high level, as he averaged 26.4 points on 45% shooting, including 40.8% from 3-point land, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game last season.

The Chef constantly moves around, looking for his best spots to cook from. He consistently flies off of off-ball or pin-down screens, swings the ball around to keep the Warriors’ ball-movement-heavy offence in motion, and has a release that leaves his fingertips within nanoseconds.

Curry is also a threat with the ball in his hands, given his ability to break defenders off the dribble and go in for floater or finger roll layups.

Curry’s 3-point range is as deep as the half-court line, which often extends opposing defences past the half-court line, fostering Golden State’s ball-movement-heavy offence.

Draymond Green is still capable of providing the all-around skill set he provided the Warriors during their dynasty years with his playmaking skills, switchable defence, and ability to set hard screens, but don’t expect him to light up the scoreboard. 

Green’s playmaking and hard screens help free up Curry to do significant damage from downtown.

The additions of De’Anthony Melton, Hield and Anderson should help replace the production of Thompson.

Melton is a solid 3-point shooter off the catch-and-shoot but is also capable of attacking defences off the drive and providing solid defence.

Hield is primarily a catch-and-shoot threat from downtown and should have plenty of looks within the Warriors’ offence.

Anderson brings a solid all-around skill set, especially as a playmaker, switchable defender, and communicator on both sides of the floor. 

Jonathan Kuminga is expected to take a huge leap next season. Kuminga is a strong finisher at the rim, both on the drive and off of cuts to the rim, and has made strides in his ability to stick pullup midrange shots and knock down 3-pointers. 

Defensively, Kuminga can guard multiple positions, stick with his opponents laterally and on the drive, and play the passing lanes.

Brandin Podziemski is also well-regarded within the Warriors organization, given his ability to come up with steals by playing the passing lanes and standing his ground defensively against his opponents, pushing the ball in transition, hitting 3-pointers, and driving in for layups.

Andrew Wiggins’ fit on this roster appears uncertain, but at his best, he’s a threat to attack the rim, dial it in from a distance, and play solid defence on the wing.

Considering all of the talent the Warriors have on their roster, I think they’re more than capable of hitting the over of their win total this upcoming season and finding their way back into the playoffs.
