The Chicago Bulls went 39-43 last season, but their roster looks a whole lot different this upcoming season.

Chicago Bulls Offseason Moves

DeMar DeRozan was traded to the Sacramento Kings after three seasons in the Windy City, as he embraced a role as their top scorer and facilitator.

Chicago lost defensive stalwart Alex Caruso, trading him to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey.

The Bulls drafted Chicago’s own Matas Buzelis with the 11th pick.

Chicago Bulls 2024-25 Betting Prediction

Prediction: Under 27.5 Wins (-105)

I predict the Bulls will win less than 27.5 games this upcoming season.

Zach LaVine’s name has been circling in trade rumours, and with the high-flyer rapidly approaching his 30th birthday, it’s hard to see the Bulls looking to build around him for the future. In fact, he might be moved by the trade deadline.

When healthy, LaVine is still one of the best all-around scorers in the league, given his ability to knock down the 3-pointer, finish at the rim, operate in the pick-and-roll, and create in the midrange. He’s known to throw down some filthy dunks as well. LaVine played in just 25 games last season.

Nikola Vučević could also be on the move, as contending teams could look to add his size, rebounding, and scoring abilities.

The Bulls will likely look to give their youngsters, particularly Giddey, Buzelis, Patrick Williams, and Coby White, all the run possible, as they’re all going to make up the core of the Bulls moving forward.

White is a knockdown 3-point shooter both on the catch-and-shoot and as a creator, and his lightning-quick speed helps him penetrate opposing defences to finish at the rim at a high rate. White averaged 19.1 points and 5.1 assists per game last season, finishing second in Most Improved Player voting.

Giddey will be installed as the point guard of their future, as he’ll mostly be relied upon as a facilitator.

Williams is a solid 3-point shooter, but he’ll mostly be there to provide defence on multiple positions on the wing and perimeter.

Buzelis showcased good cutting, driving, and finishing abilities, a floater, turnaround jump shot, and 3-point shot during the Summer League. The Bulls will certainly be looking to make him the foundational piece of their rebuild.

Losing DeRozan from last season will sting, though, as he helped balance out their offence with his efficient midrange shooting.

The Bulls have a plethora of guards on their roster, with Ayo Dosunmu, Chris Duarte, and Jevon Carter all expected to get minutes in addition to Giddey, LaVine, and White.

Lonzo Ball could make his return to the court this season as well, as he’s been out since January 2022 due to a knee injury.

All things considered, the Bulls should be focusing their attention on the future and getting the best possible pick in this year’s upcoming draft, which is why I think they’ll ultimately fall short of their win total next season.
