Best Dallas Mavericks Players of All Time

Dirk Nowitzki led the Dallas Mavericks to their most successful stretch in franchise history, qualifying for the playoffs in all but one season from 2000-2016. Such was his talent that he often sat atop the NBA betting odds for league MVP.

1. Dirk Nowitzki 

Dirk Nowitzki was as gifted a scorer as they come, as he was most known for his one-legged turnaround fadeaway jumper.

Nowitzki led the Mavs to a championship in 2011 by taking down the Miami Heat in six games, earning Finals MVP honours along the way.

The 2007 MVP and 12-time All-NBA forward has the most points, rebounds, 3-pointers and blocks, and second-most steals in Mavericks history.

Nowitzki also has the sixth-most points in NBA history.

2. Luka Dončić

“Luka Magic” was named to four All-NBA Teams and led the Mavs as deep as the Western Conference finals all before the age of 25.

Dončić can easily insert his name into the conversation of being one of the best players to ever play the game of basketball if he continues to pile on the stats and adds at least one championship and MVP Award to his name.

3. Rolando Blackman 

Rolando Blackman averaged 19.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game during his time in Dallas.

Blackman helped the Mavs get to their first Western Conference finals in 1988, but they came up short to the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.

The four-time All-Star has the second-most points and seventh-most assists and steals in franchise history.

4. Mark Aguirre 

Mark Aguirre averaged over 25 points per game in four of his seven-plus seasons in Dallas, nearing 30 in just his third season in the league.

The three-time All-Star has the third-most points in franchise history.

5. Jason Kidd 

Jason Kidd’s first stint with the Mavs was short-lived, but he was still able to earn a spot in the All-Star Game in just his second season in the league.

Returning to Dallas over a decade later, Kidd played a crucial role in the Mavericks’ 2011 championship triumph with his exceptional basketball intelligence, playmaking, shooting and defensive abilities. 

Kidd has the third-most assists and steals and sixth-most 3-pointers in Mavericks history.

6. Steve Nash 

Steve Nash averaged 14.6 points and 7.2 assists per game during his time as a Mav, as he developed into a perennial All-Star.

Nash helped lead the Mavs as far as the Western Conference finals in 2003 before falling to the San Antonio Spurs in six games.

Nash earned two All-NBA Team selections during his time in Dallas and has the sixth-most assists in franchise history.

7. Derek Harper 

Derek Harper carved out a nice career for himself due to his playmaking and defensive skills, earning two All-Defensive Team selections during his career.

Harper has the most assists and steals in franchise history.
