  • Robin Lod is Minnesota United’s all-time leader in goals and assists in MLS play.
  • Club captain Michael Boxall has made the most appearances in MNUFC history.
  • Emmanuel Reynoso made over 50 goal contributions in four-plus seasons.

Minnesota United FC is nearing the completion of its first decade in Major League Soccer after starting play as an expansion franchise in 2017.

Unfortunately for fans of the Loons, the club has been unable to overcome its soccer odds in any competition, leaving its trophy cabinet barren for the time being.

Still, some stellar talents have graced Saint Paul’s Allianz Field, including my five best players in Minnesota United’s MLS history.

Minnesota United FC All-Time Greatest Players

1. Robin Lod

Lod has played an integral role in the Minnesota midfield since joining the club from Sporting Gijón in 2019.

The Helsinki, Finland native is MNUFC’s all-time leader in goals and assists in MLS play, recording 30-plus in each category over the better part of seven seasons.

After missing most of the 2023 campaign with a knee injury, the left-footer recorded his best statistical season the following year. He scored seven goals and assisted 15 more, earning league-wide recognition as a first-time All-Star and a finalist for the MLS Comeback Player of the Year award.

2. Michael Boxall

Minnesota’s current captain has been a mainstay in defence since joining the club during its inaugural season.

A fan favourite for his consistency, Boxall holds the franchise record for appearances with over 230 and counting in MLS play. He should maintain that mark fairly comfortably, as no other Minnesota player had reached 150 league appearances at the time of writing.

The New Zealand international earned his first MLS All-Star nod in 2025 after anchoring one of the league’s best defences through the first half of the campaign.

3. Emanuel Reynoso

Reynoso’s tenure in Minnesota didn’t end on the best terms, but there was no denying the Argentine No. 10’s talent when he was on the pitch.

The attacking midfielder left as the club’s all-time leader in assists with 33 in MLS play, a record that Lod surpassed in July 2025, and remains among its top scorers as well.

4. Dayne St. Clair

St. Clair has repaid the faith that Minnesota showed by selecting him with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

The Pickering, Ontario native is United’s all-time leader in clean sheets and has been selected as an All-Star twice (2022 and 2025) since taking the starting gloves ahead of the 2022 campaign.

St. Clair’s presence between the posts is a key factor I look out for when assessing Minnesota’s MLS odds at the BetMGM online sportsbook.

5. Bongokuhle Hlongwane

Hlongwane ranks second on Minnesota United’s all-time scoring charts after leading the team with 11 goals in the 2024 league campaign.

The 25-year-old South African forward is one of five players in club history to reach double-digit goals in a single season and could climb up the rankings if his productivity continues.
