Yohendrick Piñango has been an intriguing prospect in the Toronto Blue Jays’ system since he was acquired ahead of the 2024 trade deadline.

Despite making his big-league debut this season, there is still a wide range of outcomes for the young outfielder.

There’s upside that could make Piñango one of the baseball betting favourites for Rookie of the Year at the BetMGM sportsbook, but his game is very much a work in progress.

Who Is Yohendrick Piñango?

Piñango is a 24-year-old outfielder for the Blue Jays.

Born in Venezuela, Piñango was called up in April 2026 after Nathan Lukes went on the injured list with a hamstring strain.

How Good Is Yohendrick Piñango?

Piñango has a .735 OPS across seven minor-league seasons. He lit up Double-A in 2025, but has posted a .745 OPS across 106 Triple-A games.

The defence is limited. He’s unlikely to ever be more than an average left fielder with the glove, but he was in the 90th percentile in exit velocity in Triple-A in 2025 and has improved his bat speed over the last couple of years.

As with a lot of young sluggers, the question is whether he can consistently lift the ball. Groundballs have been a problem throughout his career, but the early signs in 2026 were positive, with his groundball rate decreasing markedly and many more balls getting pulled in the air.

What Prospect Ranking Is Yohendrick Piñango?

MLB Pipeline ranks Piñango as the 10th-best Blue Jays prospect.

He is ranked between RJ Schreck and Jake Cook.

FanGraphs ranks Piñango 11th between Juan Caricote and Angel Bastardo.

How Did the Blue Jays Acquire Yohendrick Piñango?

Piñango joined the Blue Jays’ organization in July 2024 via the trade that sent Nate Pearson to the Chicago Cubs.

Josh Rivera was also included in the deal.

The Cubs had signed Piñango as an international free agent in 2018 with a $400,000 signing bonus.
