  • Tiedemann has elite stuff and impressive strikeout numbers.

The Toronto Blue Jays need some of their top prospects to deliver in the big leagues if they are to become a World Series favourite in the baseball betting markets in 2025.

Baseball America ranks the Jays as having the 23rd-best farm system ahead of the season. Ahead of opening day, the BetMGM online sportsbook makes Toronto an outsider to make the playoffs in the latest Blue Jays odds.

1. Arjun Nimmala

Only 17 years old when he was drafted 20th overall in 2023, Arjun Nimmala is a very raw prospect with plenty of upside. Possessing a big frame and impressive exit velocity numbers at a young age, Nimmala projects to have above-average power and decent speed.

Having not played higher than Single-A, Nimmala isn’t going to make the big leagues until the end of 2026 at the earliest.

2. Trey Yesavage

Drafted in the first round in 2024, the Blue Jays opted not to throw Trey Yesavage into competitive games last year. The towering right-hander has a mid-90s fastball with great ride, a good slider, splitter, and a curveball with decent upside.

Impressive performances in college with East Carolina, Yesavage is a player to keep an eye on in the Blue Jays’ system in 2025. He could climb through the minors quickly.

3. Orelvis Martinez

After playing a single MLB game in 2024, Orelvis Martinez figures to be a part of the Blue Jays’ plans in 2025. Martinez boasts elite power, leading the minor leagues in home runs between 2021 and 2023.

Defensively, the Jays are yet to find the right spot for him. Initially signed at shortstop, Martinez has had time at second and third, but he needs to improve with the glove to become a regular in the big leagues.

4. Ricky Tiedemann

Impressing throughout the minors with a mid-to-high-90s fastball, Ricky Tiedemann has struck hitters out for fun before undergoing Tommy John surgery during the 2024 season.

His stuff is electric. The fastball has touched 98 mph, while MLB Pipeline believe his changeup and slider can be plus pitches in the big leagues. The southpaw has drawn comparisons to Blake Snell.

5. Alan Roden

Alan Roden is destined for his big-league debut in 2025 after putting up an .865 OPS across Double-A and Triple-A in 2024.

Possessing an elite eye and improving exit velocities, Roden projects to have a high on-base percentage with good power. He’s a solid, if unspectacular, defender on the outfield corners and an above-average baserunner.

What Happened to Ricky Tiedemann?

Ricky Tiedemann, who was the Blue Jays’ top prospect midway through the 2024 season, underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2024.

He is expected to miss the majority, if not all, of the 2025 season.

How Good is Ricky Tiedemann?

Tiedemann was ranked as the 15th-best prospect in baseball by Baseball Prospectus ahead of the 2023 season.

Since being selected in the third round in 2021, the left-hander has posted a 3.02 ERA in the minors, while striking out 14.5 batters per nine innings.

Who Drafted Ricky Tiedemann?

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins drafted Tiedemann 91st overall in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

Athletics closer Mason Miller was selected later in the same round. The Seattle Mariners took Bryce Miller in the fourth round, and the Cleveland Guardians selected Tanner Bibee late in the fifth round.
