  • The Angels have the longest active MLB playoff drought.
  • Ten teams haven’t made the postseason in at least three years.
  • The Reds have the longest drought without a postseason win.

The MLB teams with the longest playoff droughts haven’t been listed as the favourites in World Series odds for a long time.

With three wild-card spots in each league, it is easier than ever before for teams to end their playoff droughts.

Which MLB Team Has the Longest Playoff Drought Right Now?

The Los Angeles Angels have the longest active playoff drought. It’s 10 years since the Angels made the postseason, despite having Mike Trout for all of that period and Shohei Ohtani for most of it.

Despite having two players consistently ranked among the AL MVP favourites in baseball odds, the Angels could not make the playoffs when Trout and Ohtani were teammates.

While the Angels had star power, the Pittsburgh Pirates – owners of the longest drought in the National League – have had to cope with years of uncompetitive, low-payroll teams. The arrival of Paul Skenes at least gives the fanbase something to be excited about, even if it doesn’t lead to a playoff berth.

Tied fifth in these rankings after making the expanded playoffs in 2020, the Cincinnati Reds hold the longest active drought without a postseason series win. The Reds haven’t won a playoff series in 29 years.
