After suffering a heartbreaking loss in Game 7 of the World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays have six players hitting free agency.
That group includes a pair of starters who combined for 48 regular-season starts, the team’s third-best hitter, and a reliever who made 12 playoff appearances.
Which Blue Jays Are Free Agents Right Now?
| Name | Position | 2025 Salary | 2025 bWAR |
| Chris Bassitt | Starting Pitcher | $22 million | 2.1 |
| Max Scherzer | Starting Pitcher | $15.5 million | 0.2 |
| Bo Bichette | Shortstop | $17.6 million | 3.5 |
| Isiah Kiner-Falefa | Infielder | $7.5 million | 1.7 |
| Seranthony Domínguez | Relief Pitcher | $8 million | 0.5 |
| Ty France | First Baseman | $1 million | 1 |
Chris Bassitt
Chris Bassitt was a highly reliable starter across his three seasons as a Blue Jay, pitching to a better-than-league-average ERA and proving very durable.
The veteran was moved to the bullpen in the playoffs and did a solid job, but he will be back as a starter at the beginning of next season.
Max Scherzer
After missing the start of 2025 with an injury, Max Scherzer posted a 4.11 ERA in his first 13 starts as a Jay.
September was a nightmare for Scherzer, but he more than made up for that with three strong playoff starts. His veteran presence will be invaluable on a contender in 2026.
Bo Bichette
Losing Bo Bichette will see the Blue Jays World Series odds lengthen notably. Bichette had a bounce-back year in 2025, posting 3.5 bWAR despite struggling defensively.
Teams are reportedly pursuing Bichette with the intention of playing him at third or second base.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa
A highly versatile defender, Isiah Kiner-Falefa can play shortstop, second base, third base, and even has some outfield experience.
He won’t be a priority in free agency after posting a 76 OPS+ in 2025.
Seranthony Domínguez
Seranthony Domínguez is one of the better relievers hitting free agency. Teams in need of bullpen help may turn to Domínguez if Devin Williams and Edwin Díaz prove too costly.
With an elite sweeper and a great splitter, Domínguez should be a target for the Jays.
Ty France
After posting an 88 OPS+ in 138 regular-season games as a Minnesota Twin and a Jay, Ty France might have to settle for a minor-league contract this winter.
France posted a 118 OPS+ and was worth 8.0 bWAR between 2021 and 2023. He was named an All-Star in 2022.
Who Is Leaving the Blue Jays in 2026?
France is expected to leave the Jays after making four plate appearances in the postseason. Toronto won’t be in a rush to sign Kiner-Falefa.
The Jays are reportedly interested in re-signing Bichette, Scherzer, and Bassitt. There will be substantial interest in Bichette, which could see the Jays look elsewhere for a long-term shortstop if the price gets too high. Bassitt is a valuable veteran – the question is how long a contract he gets.
It makes sense for the Jays to bring Scherzer back if he’s willing to take a cheaper deal. Toronto needs to add depth to its rotation behind Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber, and Trey Yesavage.
