Trey Yesavage, despite still being a rookie, is a key factor in Toronto Blue Jays World Series odds in 2026. Yesavage starred for the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2025 postseason and could be one of the 10 best pitchers in the American League this season.

Opening the season on the injured list with a shoulder impingement hasn’t had too much of an impact on Yesavage’s Rookie of the Year odds at the BetMGM sportsbook, but Jays fans will inevitably be wondering when they will see their young star take the mound.

When Is Trey Yesavage’s First Start For the Jays?

Yesavage, whose American League Rookie of the Year odds are +3000 and AL Cy Young odds are off the board, will make his first rehab outing on Friday in a 45-pitch simulated game. The Jays will want the right-hander to have at least a couple more rehab outings before he’s ready to return to the big leagues.

The most likely outcome is that Yesavage makes his first MLB start of the year around the middle of April. Providing everything goes to plan, he should be sufficiently ramped up for the Milwaukee Brewers series on April 14-16.

Alternatively, the Jays could give Yesavage another rehab outing and bring him back against the Los Angeles Angels or Cleveland Guardians in the following week.

When Did Trey Yesavage Start Playing For the Blue Jays?

Yesavage was drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft. He made his big-league debut on Sept. 15, 2025.

After making only three regular-season starts, Yesavage was part of Toronto’s rotation throughout the playoffs, recording 39 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.
