When Was the Last Time the Blue Jays Won the AL East?

The AL East is one of the strongest divisions in baseball. As a result, even though Toronto Blue Jays World Series odds have often priced them among the favourites from the American League, division titles have been hard to come by. 

Toronto has won two AL East titles since the last time the Blue Jays won a World Series. They have finished as runners-up on three occasions during that period. 

When Was the Last Time the Blue Jays Won the AL East?

Toronto last won the AL East in 2025. It was the franchise’s first division title since 2015. 

However, before 2025, the last time the Blue Jays made the playoffs was far more recent, with several wild-card entries over the last decade.  

The Jays were AL East runners-up in 2016 and 2022. Toronto also earned a wild-card spot after finishing third in the AL East in 2023. 

How Many Times Have the Blue Jays Won the AL East?

The Jays have won the AL East on seven occasions. The franchise enjoyed its best years between 1989 and 1993, with four division titles and two World Series titles in a five-year span. 

Toronto’s 2015 division title ended with an ALCS loss to the Kansas City Royals. After winning the AL East in 2025, the Jays eliminated the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners in the American League playoffs to reach the World Series for the first time in 32 years.
